Latest news report on sex abuse is just a piece of the puzzle
The article on sex abuse in the Charlotte Catholic diocese that appeared in Thursday’s Charlotte Observer is just a piece of the puzzle. The Charlotte Diocese continues to cover up for accused priests, especially if they belong to a Religious Order.
Father Al Gondek, who last served in the Charlotte Diocese, has had multiple sexual abuse allegations made against him for alleged abuse in this Diocese. In 2015, a victim made allegations to his local police department and then was deported to Mexico.
While at the detention center in Georgia, this brave survivor made a written statement of his allegations. It is detailed and mentions other children. I have a copy of this statement and have spoken to many other people with knowledge of the accusations. They are very credible. The Charlotte Diocese investigators interviewed people with information on this matter and Father Gondek subsequently "retired".
Despite the fact that Bishop Jugis spoke at Father Gondek's parish when old accusations appeared over a decade ago, Bishop Jugis would not go to Lexington to tell Father Gondek's parish about the latest accusations and the reason for his "retirement".
